By the way, Google: well done on the Gmail redesign. I like it. I’ll admit that I’ve only yet glanced at it and I’m biased, so far it looks like a redesign I would do.

Though the ever-eloquent Kid Ish makes a good point: it’s more streamlined, but you managed to keep the same shitty smileys sets - why did those get to stay? Otherwise, the Ishes approve. (I’m sure you were holding your breath.)

Stan Sakai: Usagi Yojimbo

(My #1 Favorite Artist of SD Comic Con 2011) 

Sakai became famous with the creation of Usagi Yojimbo, the epic saga
of Miyamoto Usagi, a samurai rabbit living in late-sixteenth and early-seventeenth-century Japan. First published in 1984, the comic continues
to this day, with Sakai as the lone author and nearly sole artist.

The Japanese American National Museum in Los Angeles’s Little Tokyo 
is presenting an exhibit entitled “Year of the Rabbit: Stan Sakai’s Usagi Yojimbo from July 9 through October 30, 2011. (Source)

Sassy Tries to Intimidate You.

Today, I am posting pictures of the most intimidating kind.
ME IN GOALIE PADS - RRRRAAAWWRRRR. Be very afraid.

Why am I doing this? Um, because we are Ducks fans. In case you hadn’t figured that out already. The kiddo is ready for school, decked out in orange-black-and-white from head to toe. I have fluffed up the jerseys and set them out for this evening, the meal is planned and the destination is set: we’re watching the game at the home of a family of Kings fans who have been season ticket holders for ages. 

The Ducks play the Kings tonight, had I mentioned that? Oh yeah. Sh*t’s gonna get cra-a-a-zay. I mean, it should be a good time and all. I just hope we win because otherwise the drive home will be pretty tense. 

Let’s Review our Favorites:

• Kid is all about Perry, and really - can you blame him? Perry’s a superstar. And we were at the home game where he had his first hat trick (this season). Special warm-fuzzy feelings all around.
• The kiddo likes all the players, but his current favorite is “Salami”. I’m sure Teemu won’t mind the pronunciation. 
• And last but not least, my favorite is Parros, Mister Mustache himself. He’s also a Princeton grad, a huge supporter of children’s charities like Locks of Love, and is known for having one of the highest I.Q.s in the NHL. Wut wut.

So thus ends my shout out to the Ducks, we wish you guys the best for the game. Oh, and in case things get tight with the goalies tonight [crosses self, not even Catholic]… you can always recruit this guy. He’s pretty awesome.
